The size of my folder C:\Windows\winsxs
is about 11 GB
What is it?
The Winsxs folder, stores multiple copies of dll’s in order to let multiple applications run in Windows without any compatibility problem. Actually all Windows files are there!!! And more…. then when windows need some file it make hard link to WinSxS folder…
Windows 7 SP1 have solution:
- Run CMD as administator:
- run this command
dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded - Now let se the new size
it was 11.3GB and now…
Now 6.9 GB hmmm better then nothing. Seen like Windows tool only removed the backup created when you update windows…
- I run windows disk clean up:
That gave me some more space but did not clean WinSxS folder.
Will write on when finding more solutions!
DON NOT DELET FILES IN WinSxS folder! Your Windows will stop working!
